This individual will directly influence the Amazon last mile automation roadmap by partnering with Robotics, SW Tech Teams, Process Engineering teams, Operations, Facilities and Engineering teams to improve our final customer shopping experience. <br/> <br/> <br/> Key job responsibilities <br/> As a System Development Engineer, you will be a part of the team of experts working on the development of complex mechatronics products. The keys skills required for this role are: <ul> <li> Advanced technical expertise in industrial automation systems (Codesys 3.5, HMI, VFDs, Servo Drive, Industrial Fieldbuses like Ethernet-IP Profinet EtherCAT, IO-Link) </li> <li> Advanced technical expertise in the industrial communication protocol (TCP-IP, OPC-UA) </li> <li> Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities for complex systems </li> <li> Hands-on experience with camera systems and Linux OS (preferred) </li> <li> Familiarity with version control systems like git </li> <li> Knowledge of Object-Orientated Industrial Programming (OOIP) </li> <li> Experience managing software development, including designing, developing, integrating, troubleshooting, and optimizing various automation solutions </li> <li> Strong project management skills, including on-site commissioning and SAT processes </li> <li> Excellent problem-solving and communication skills across diverse cultural contexts </li> <li> Familiarity with international safety machinery standards and certification processes </li> <li> Experience with automation solutions like conveyors, sorters, and robotic work cells </li> <li> Write requirements and technical specifications </li> <li> Conduct regular technical reviews and reporting </li> <li> Lead the discussion for the automation scalability strategy of new technologies working with various teams like Engineering, vendors, Supply Chain, Corp Dev, Maintenance Team. </li> </ul> <br/> A day in the life <br/> You will developed and continuously improved software for AMZL. You will work with Product owners and System Developer to define and develop the software structure for a new concepts for AMZL with automation and robotics technology. You will deep dive on understanding software of new techs made by vendors and how to integrate them in the AMZL Software Architecture. You will test and commission the developed software on machines deployed in Innovation Centers WW as well as on busy operational sites. <br/> <br/> About the team <br/> You will coordinate the development and the continuous improvement of a set of software libraries and applications for AMZL. Your day could include: working with Product owners, System Developer and other SDE and technical stakeholders to define the software architecture for a new concepts for AMZL with automation and robotics technologies, ensuring the standardization and scalability of the solution. You will deep dive on understanding software of new techs made by vendors and how to integrate them in the AMZL Software Architecture. Coordinate the tests and commission of the developed software in the AMZL Innovation Center. <br/> <h3> BASIC QUALIFICATIONS </h3> <ul> <li> Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent </li> </ul> <br/> <ul> <li> Experience with designing and creating architecture for scalable Industrial Automation Systems using modern software design patterns </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Proficiency in at least one Object-Oriented programming (OOP) language: C++, C#, Java, Python, Ruby, etc. </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Experience coding and troubleshooting Machine Code in IEC 61131-3 languages, primarily Structured Text (ST) </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Hands-on experience with Industrial Control Systems, Electrical design and Networking concepts. </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities of Robotics/Controls systems; we are a hands-on team </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Excellent communication skills across diverse cultural contexts; we operate across 3 continents and more than 7 countries </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Good writing and documentation skills; we need to document our software designs </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Willingness to travel up to 30% in accordance with business needs </li> </ul> <br> <h3> PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS </h3> <ul> <li> Master's degree in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent </li> </ul> <br/> <ul> <li> Preferred knowledge on CODESYS IDE or Beckhoff TwinCAT development environment. </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Demonstrated track record of success in a science or engineering field, evidenced by outstanding projects, innovations, or advanced problem-solving </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Experience with building IIoT solutions and familiarity with protocols such as OPC-UA, MQTT, HTTPS, TCP/IP </li> </ul> <ul> <li> Background in industrial automation or material handling equipment (MHE) systems </li> </ul> <br> Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
