TT-Line is investing in the future of Baltic Sea transport. Our two new Green RoPax 2.0 ferries will combine advanced LNG-hybrid propulsion, scalable battery energy storage, high-capacity shore power and a future-ready electrical architecture with increased freight capacity and a next-generation passenger experience. Both vessels will be built at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing, China. For this exciting project, we are looking for a:

Newbuilding Site Manager - Green RoPax 2.0 (m/f/d)

Site Location: Nanjing, Jiangsu, China

• Your mission:

As TT-Line's Site Manager, you are the senior on-site representative of the Owner and lead the Owner's site team from construction and outfitting through commissioning, trials and delivery. You safeguard TT-Line's technical and operational interests while creating a disciplined, collaborative and safety-first working environment across all project partners.

The area of responsibility includes:

• Lead and represent: Lead the Owner's site team, set priorities and inspection coverage, and act as TT-Line's senior interface with the yard, designers, class, flag, suppliers, consultants, future crew and the wider project organisation.
• Protect quality and compliance: Verify that construction meets the building contract, technical specification, approved drawings, class and statutory requirements, agreed quality standards and TT-Line's operational expectations.
• Maintain end-to-end technical oversight: Follow progress across hull and steel, machinery and piping, LNG and hybrid propulsion, electrical and automation systems, battery and shore-power integration, RoRo cargo systems, safety systems, accommodation and hotel outfitting.
• Control progress and readiness: Monitor the production plan and critical path, challenge delays, assess milestone readiness and initiate timely recovery or mitigation measures.
• Drive inspection and close-out: Coordinate inspection and test plans, document findings, manage comments, non-conformities and punch lists, and ensure effective root-cause correction and verified closure.
• Coordinate testing and handover: Plan and oversee relevant FATs, HATs, commissioning, inclining, bunkering and safety tests, sea trials and final acceptance, as well as crew familiarisation, supplier training, documentation, certificates, spares and technical handover.
• Resolve issues pragmatically: Lead technical clarification and escalation, evaluate proposed changes for safety, performance, maintainability, cost and schedule impact, and develop robust solutions that protect the Owner's position.
• Report clearly and manage HSE: Maintain concise progress, quality, risk, decision, change and action reporting; escalate material deviations early; and promote a proactive safety culture across the site team and wider project.

To be expected:

• A degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a comparable technical discipline; an equivalent senior seagoing engineering qualification may also be considered.
• Several years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, vessel newbuilding or major maritime projects, including several years in a senior Owner's site-team, superintendent or site-management capacity.
• A strong, hands-on technical background: you can review drawings and specifications, understand shipbuilding sequences, apply class, flag and statutory requirements, and judge solutions for safety, reliability, maintainability and operational suitability.
• Proven leadership, sound judgement and the confidence to make decisions, set priorities and manage difficult discussions in a constructive, fact-based manner.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills in an international, multidisciplinary and multicultural environment, plus fluent written and spoken English and disciplined reporting skills.
• Full willingness and practical availability for extensive international travel and a long-term assignment in Nanjing, China, including extended continuous stays at the shipyard.

Experience that will set you apart:

• Previous RoPax, RoRo or other passenger-vessel newbuilding experience; direct RoPax experience is a clear advantage.
• Experience with LNG-fuelled vessels, battery energy storage, high-voltage systems or hybrid propulsion.
• Successful delivery of a vessel through commissioning, sea trials, acceptance and operational handover.
• Prior experience at Chinese shipyards and confidence working across cultural and organisational boundaries.
