The Clinic for Gastroenterology, gastrointestinal Oncology and Endocrinology of the University Medical Center Göttingen is looking for

Postdoctoral Fellow (f/m/d) in pancreatic cancer

3-years, fulltime (38,5 h / week) | salary according to TV-L

The University Medical Center Göttingen is a tertiary care center and offers great development potential. Its 7,900 employees work in over 65 departments and facilities to provide top-quality patient care, excellent research and modern teaching. Göttingen, “City of Science-, located near the center of Germany, the University Medical Center Göttingen is embedded in the city-s attractive network of scientific research facilities.

The Ellenrieder Lab has a longstanding expertise in basic and translational cancer research with a particular focus on pancreatic cancer. Specifically, we are interested in signaling, transcriptional and metabolic pathways involved in the regulation of tumor growth, plasticity and chemoresistance. Thereby, we are addressing different regulatory mechanisms of genome/chromatin dynamics as well as metabolic changes and their relevance in pancreatic cancer progression and resistance.

Our group is a part of the clinical research unit (CRU) 5002 “Deciphering Genome Dynamics for Subtype-specific Therapy in Pancreatic Cancer-, and within the CRU we are characterizing novel molecular vulnerabilities and their potential for tailored treatment approaches. Hereby, we use different in vitro and in vivo tumor models and extensive genome wide and bioinformatic approaches for transcriptional, translational and metabolic characterization. In the context of the CRU, we are especially working with molecular and genomic characterized patient derived xenografts, organoids and cells lines. You will work in an international group, in strong interaction with different cooperation partners within the department and multiple cooperation partners within the clinical and basic research environment of the university. The project includes standard molecular biology techniques, NGS-sequencing as well as metabolic plasticity analysis. The regular participation and presentation of results in the Department and G-CCC (Göttingen-Comprehensive Cancer Center) seminars are part of the work.

Your responsibilities:

  • plan and conduct projects within the scope of metabolic and stress adaptation in pancreatic cancer
  • writing manuscripts / grants
  • guide and train students in the lab

Your profile:

  • Ph.D in biology or a related field
  • Expertise in cell culture, molecular biology, sequencing and NGS approaches
  • Experience with one or more of the following fields is a plus: pancreatic cancer, NGS data analysis, Calcium signaling, UPR, metabolism
  • FELASA B or C certificate is beneficial
  • a very good publication record
  • fluency in English is mandatory, German skills are beneficial
